DNA & Paternity Testing Reasons & Fears

DNA & Paternity testing is done for several reasons. The test is 99.99% accurate and results can be obtained quickly. If you are trying to establish paternity for the sake of knowing who the biological father of a child is, it is best to get the test done while the child is young by someone working a qualified locum doctor job in your area of jurisdiction. This will impact the child (and family) less than if it is later on in the child’s life.

Many people fear of breaking up relationships due to paternity tests coming out not in their favor. This will cause them to delay testing and doubt or not knowing the answer ends up ruining their relationship anyway.

Other people neglect to get testing done because they feel the test is too expensive. Legal finding tests can be done for $400 or less and home testing can be done for no more than $200.

There are lots of reasons why a DNA & Paternity test is done with 2 of the main reasons being child custody and child support.

Child Custody: In these types of cases, only a legally binding test will be accepted by a court of law. The test needs to be done by a reputable laboratory and follow a strict procedure. This ensures the DNA material is not tampered or interfered with. A legally binding test needs to be done by somebody who has no relationship to the family. Home tests are considered informal and are not accepted by a court of law.

Child Support: Similar to child custody cases, child support cases require a legally binding DNA & Paternity test as well. Informal tests will not be accepted. Tests will prove paternity and the biological father will be ordered to pay child support. This is also true to stop child support payments. Too often alleged fathers are finding out that the children that they have raised or supported are not their biological children. Although this can be shocking for fathers to get results like this from DNA & Paternity testing, it can save them thousands of dollars in the long run.
